Buzz: when ‘good times’ keep rolling!
By Admin G:
Let me say it this way: this ad is freakin’ silly, just as silly as the other tvcs from Buzz… though they put a smile on our face each time we see them. Reason? Authenticity.
When the idea is based on reality, then it will surely get to us: we all like Nadine Labaki’s ‘Caramel’ for the same reason, as we all listen to the ‘wicked’ songs of ‘Meen’ and the experimental pieces of Machrou’ Leila… They simply remain true to their identity, reflect social Lebanese facts, say Lebanese idioms and behave Lebanese, even if each from a different angle; and this is exactly what is called ‘insights’!!
Going into the strategic side of the communication, after 6 months of running the same ads daily on almost all tv stations, it was really the time to shake the audience! And Hoopla! Two new fun engaging commercials were released! (Anticipating the public lose of interest though my father still laughs at it every single time! *shoot me*)
Going for the same tagline “Khalleh l Jaw Wel’an” was also wise since continuity helps in building brand equity. Some people just don’t get it! (Call me genius!)
Keeping on with the same main cast was also a good choice, as well as the enhanced art direction that plays a major part in adding to the commercial’s exaggerated humour, brilliantly art directed and shot (especially the first one)! Same as ‘Bati” by MTC touch, this campaign entices the audience and helps increasing brand awareness: Buzz is definitely becoming more hip!
Fun, entertaining and totally suiting the brand; it is when sequels work as well as the original version, and also when freelance creatives prove that agencies aren’t always a good choice: too safe is too boring people!
