Smoking ban campaign: “fout shem el hawa”
By Admin G: So the headline is not that bad! It is exactly what non-smokers would say and it is exactly what they need to hear and indeed what they want! Using ‘Shim el Hawa’ as a play on word slang is pretty smart for such campaign, yet the TV commercial came out dumb, as dumb as the red ‘restricted’ sign fitting the letter F in Arabic…Oups! (Well, it’s just a point of view, never mind… You don’t have to get defensive!)
The TVC just ruined the line: non-smokers wouldn’t want to play tennis at the office; they wouldn’t want to exercise at the restaurant either…and this is not the purpose of the law 174 neither what awareness should serve. The video is not even funny or shocking to claim that it gets stuck in your head, it is somehow forced and not really engaging. The whole development and implementation of the line failed to spread the importance of such a promulgated law. It simply failed in capturing more attention.
I do not care about tennis; I just want my boss to stop smoking! The office stinks and it would NEVER look like a beach resort unless employees come in Speedos (hmmm, visuals, hmm)!
But what if the restaurant scene happened for real? Got shot by amateurs and real witnesses, then spread online, liked, shared, tweeted, pined and broadcasted on the evening news etc, etc, just like every other famous viral video! Wouldn’t it sound amazing? Wouldn’t it look funny and shocking? Wouldn’t it look like a quiet winning viral campaign? Instead of the whole silly over-acting?
You better give it a shot! Get more awareness and engage more advocates! Better late than never…
Online media is cost-free!

to be honest i like the idea its a bit funny, though i think it could have been better implemented…
sorry
Exactly!
I like the headline, but the TVC feels like a wasted potential of an interesting idea.
