Smeds @#%$!
Smeds @#%$!
By Admin N : What? Why? But why?
My mind is currently unable to form proper English sentences so excuse my language, but these TVCs have left me completely dumbfound! Smeds international released two TVCs starring Antoinette Akiki a popular Lebanese figure (best known for her role as fifi) who seemed at first to be throwing a monologue, mainly about how a man should please his woman using expressions I’ve never heard of before (whatta hell is lakle7a? honestly someone please tell me) then, in the end, she holds the holy bag of shredded mozzarella cheese and reveals what she’s been talking about all the time. As for the second one, and here comes the atrocities, the mother of all vulgarity, the first Lebanese soft porn movie, the boob monologue! Or at least that’s what I thought at first but of course, she was talking about the smeds shredded mozzarella cheese (go figure!). dear inHOUSE communication and the folks over at smeds, not that spring allergies are enough reason for me to give up cheese but thank you for making me think about sex and boobs every time I eat a pizza or crave a knefe.
Everyone repeat after me: SEX DOES NOT SELL SEX DOES NOT SELL SEX DOES NOT SELL SEX DOES NOT SELL!
Using sex to sell just makes you look desperate, like you couldn’t find anything to tell us about this cheese. So the only thing I can conclude from your ad is that this cheese sucks so bad you had to resort to sex to sell it.
And in the end: but WHY?!

WOW, no one commented yet?
It is tla7la7 which means relax and let it go.
You havent heard it before?
Anyways, the ad is SEX SELLS. Thats what the world is going for recently, well at least ours. I dont like how it is going. But I know they used Antoinette for her similar jokes she used long ago on LOL (back when it was funny and not all about sex and gay jokes) where she explains how to make a dough with sexual connotations. It was funny as a joke, but not as an ad.
Why cant people understand that when you take something out of its context, it doesnt always succeed. The same happened with the Hawa Chicken ad (mish 3emli 3asha????) It was funny in the play (that i didnt watch) but the ad was lame and out of context.
I hope we could get to a level of maturity in ads and not get lower with each coming ad
Thanks for the explanation Hisham, I personally know about the context you’re talking about, and agree with you. But in the end whether you know those details or not, the ad is simply not acceptable.. shame!
If I had the option I would seriously sue the agency AND this woman! She’s so irritating, I’m so ashamed from the fact that she’s considered to be a comedy icon. Advertising in Lebanon.. seriously.. no comments.
I wanna highlight some stuff that made me laugh:
“here comes the atrocities, the mother of all vulgarity, the first Lebanese soft porn movie, the boob monologue!”
“thank you for making me think about sex and boobs every time I eat a pizza or crave a knefe.”
“So the only thing I can conclude from your ad is that this cheese sucks so bad you had to resort to sex to sell it.” (and sadly thats what Lebanese Advertising agencies do when they’re fed up)
Thank you fashaytile khel2e with this post!
Glad to keep you entertained!
unfortunately, we can’t sue since we live in a country that condones such atrocities.
So we decided to write about it in the hopes of, even in small portions, changing the design thinking in this country.
thank you for reading
Oh.
My.
God.
I am (uncharacteristically) speechless, this is bad on so many levels!
imagine my face when i saw this
O.eM.Gee indeed!
oh my god , this is sick beyond comprehension. its not why ? its HOW. I wanna imagine that creative meeting, where this smart ass said: “I have an idea, why ofcoarse… Cheese! well boobs & sex is the way to go ” and I can only imagine the idiots who went along and said : “Briliiant … get the cameras ready”. face palm , scratcch that . Face plant.
haha, you made a whole story!!
well already shredding Mozzarella that way is a crime against nature…all the rest comes after that
I just can’t get over it…. this is so vulgar! it’s not even funny…
You guys should definitely check out the article in ArabAd (May 2012) about Smeds, it’s hilarous.
will try to keep that in mind
i do forget a lot!!
